Introduction
India has officially launched a nationwide mobile-based disaster communication system designed to deliver instant emergency alerts directly to citizens’ mobile phones during disasters and critical situations, India Launches Nationwide Mobile Disaster Alert System for Real-Time Emergency Warnings.
The system was launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on May 2, 2026.
What Is the New Alert System?
The new platform uses Cell Broadcast Technology, allowing emergency alerts to be transmitted instantly to all mobile phones within a targeted geographical area.
Unlike regular SMS alerts, the system can:
