A New Era of Connectivity

The upcoming elevated corridor linking the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (Atal Setu) to the Mumbai–Pune Expressway is being hailed as a gamechanger in Maharashtra’s transport infrastructure. Once complete, it will dramatically cut travel time between Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, and Pune, unlocking massive benefits for commuters, logistics, and real estate.

Key Highlights A Gamechanger for Mumbai–Pune Travel

  • Project Length: ~6.6 km (Chirle–Gavan Phata + Palaspe Phata sections)

  • Estimated Cost: ₹1,100 crore

  • Completion Target: February 2027

  • Implementing Agency: Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC)

The connector will feature six-lane elevated corridors, linking Atal Setu’s Chirle Interchange to Gavan Phata, and onward to Palaspe Phata on the Expressway. The alignment passes above busy freight routes like NH-348 and NH-48, easing congestion and cutting truck traffic on the ground level.

Why It Matters

  • Reduces Mumbai–Pune journey time by nearly an hour.

  • Eases container traffic to and from JNPT Port.

  • Boosts connectivity for Navi Mumbai International Airport and Raigad industrial zones.

  • Triggers real estate growth around Ulwe, Panvel, and Gavan Phata.

Current Status

Construction is already underway, with Gawar Constructions executing major sections. Atal Setu has already reshaped Mumbai’s connectivity — this connector will extend that impact deeper into Maharashtra, forming a seamless high-speed link from South Mumbai to Pune and beyond.

Looking Ahead

As Maharashtra continues to invest in mega corridors like Samruddhi Mahamarg and Atal Setu, this connector will stand as the missing link uniting Mumbai’s coastal and inland expressways. It’s more than an infrastructure project — it’s the backbone of a faster, smarter, and better-connected MMR. A Gamechanger for Mumbai–Pune Travel
