CIDCO Floats Tender for DPR of New Road/Bridge Linking NMIA North Road with Kharghar-Belapur-Nerul Coastal Link in Navi Mumbai

The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) has issued a tender inviting bids for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a strategically important new road and bridge link in Navi Mumbai. This proposed infrastructure will significantly improve regional connectivity by linking the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) North Road with the Kharghar–Belapur–Nerul Coastal Link Road corridor — a vital stretch for commuters and freight traffic moving across the satellite city. Although official details from CIDCO’s tender database are awaited, the project is expected to define the exact alignment, design parameters, cost estimates, and environmental clearances needed before construction can begin. Preparing a high-quality DPR is a crucial first step in transforming the plan into reality, helping key stakeholders visualise the route, projected travel demand, land requirements and connectivity benefits ahead of execution. Why This Link Matters

Navi Mumbai is rapidly expanding its transport backbone to support major infrastructure such as the upcoming International Airport (NMIA) and new commercial hubs. Connecting the airport’s northern road network with existing and future coastal link roads will:

✔ Boost access from central and northern Navi Mumbai nodes including Nerul, Belapur and Kharghar.✔ Redistribute airport-bound traffic more evenly across the city’s road network, reducing pressure on congested corridors like the Sion–Panvel highway.✔ Accelerate economic activity in residential, industrial and logistics zones around the airport and eastern Navi Mumbai.

These links build on CIDCO’s broader drive to modernise Navi Mumbai’s mobility network, which includes the ongoing 9.6-km Kharghar–Belapur coastal road project — set to begin construction in early 2026 ahead of NMIA’s operational launch — and other regional connectivity upgrades. Following the issuance of DPR tender documents, engineering consultancies and design firms will submit technical and financial proposals. The selected consultant will prepare the detailed planning documents — including alignment studies, traffic forecasts, cost estimates, environmental and social impact assessments — that will inform final approvals and budgeting from CIDCO and relevant authorities.

Once the DPR is approved and funding allocated, the project is expected to be tendered for construction later, unlocking a new chapter in Navi Mumbai’s infrastructure growth.
