Mega Expressway Set to Transform Travel Between Maharashtra and Gujarat
One of India's biggest infrastructure projects is nearing a major milestone. The Vadodara–Mumbai section of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is expected to become operational by August 31, 2026, reducing travel time between Mumbai and Vadodara from nearly 8 hours to just 4 hours, according to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The expressway is part of the 1,350-km Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, an eight-lane access-controlled corridor connecting Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Once fully completed, it will significantly improve passenger travel and freight movement across western India.
A Landmark Infrastructure Project
The Maharashtra section of the Vadodara–Mumbai corridor spans approximately 157 km and is being developed at an estimated cost of ₹24,000 crore.
