For long, the neighbouring junction at Moraj Circle — the only major access point to Sanpada and Juinagar — has been a major traffic bottleneck, especially during peak hours. With just two access routes earlier (through Sanpada village and Moraj Circle), daily commuters have long struggled with congestion and delays. News Band+1
According to the municipal plan, the underpass will include a 37 m RCC-box tunnel, with extended approach ramps and slip roads spanning hundreds of metres. The project also includes drainage infrastructure — a critical aspect considering past issues of waterlogging that made the underpass risky during monsoons. NextProcure Maharashtra+1
Local leaders and residents, including former corporators who campaigned for nearly nine years, have welcomed the clearance. They say this is an important step toward unlocking smoother connectivity for sectors 1, 13–19, Sanpada village, and the broader Sanpada–Juinagar belt. News Band
