Maharashtra is set to witness one of its biggest infrastructure transformations with the development of the Virar–Alibaug Multimodal Corridor. The Maharashtra government has approved Phase 1 of this ambitious project with an estimated investment exceeding ₹37,000 crore. Planned as a massive 14-lane access-controlled corridor, the project is expected to significantly improve connectivity across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) while boosting economic and real estate growth in surrounding regions.

The Virar–Alibaug Corridor is being developed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and is considered a major step toward the vision of “Mumbai 3.0.”

The Virar–Alibaug Multimodal Corridor is a high-speed transport corridor connecting Virar in Palghar district to Alibaug in Raigad district. The complete project is expected to stretch around 126 kilometers across major urban and industrial regions of Maharashtra.

Phase 1 of the project will cover approximately 96 kilometers, connecting Navghar in Vasai to Balavali in Pen taluka. The corridor will pass through several important areas in Palghar, Thane, and Raigad districts.
