At the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis showcased an ambitious vision for the future of urban India — Mumbai 3.0, positioned as India’s next major global investment destination. Mumbai 3 0 India’s Next Investment Frontier Unveiled at WEF 2026

Mumbai 3.0, officially known as Karnala–Sai–Chirner (KSC) New Town, is a next-generation city being developed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). It plans to unlock over 675 square kilometres of fresh urban landscape — nearly three times the size of present-day Mumbai — transforming the region into a vibrant economic powerhouse.

A Vision for Future Growth

The project is designed as a thematic global city that integrates living, business and innovation under one umbrella. It will feature dedicated zones such as Edu City, Medi City, Sports City, Innovation City, and a Global Capability Centre (GCC) City to attract global enterprises, startups, research hubs, and talent.

World-Class Infrastructure Backbone

Mumbai 3.0’s success is anchored by transformative infrastructure initiatives, including:

  • Navi Mumbai International Airport

  • The iconic Atal Setu (Mumbai-Navi Mumbai Sea Bridge)

  • Integrated multimodal transport networks

These projects are expected to enhance connectivity, logistics efficiency and investor confidence across the region.

Investment & Economic Potential

At Davos 2026, Maharashtra’s leadership highlighted Mumbai 3.0 as a magnet for global capital, innovation and job creation. The state has already secured multi-billion-dollar memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with global partners, underlining strong investor interest and reinforcing confidence in the region’s long-term growth trajectory.

This new urban ecosystem is expected to generate hundreds of thousands of jobs, attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) at scale, and boost sustainable economic development — making it a cornerstone of India’s next economic leap.

A Global City for the Future ( Mumbai 3.0: India’s Next Investment Frontier Unveiled at WEF 2026 )

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Fadnavis and MMRDA Chairman Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, Mumbai 3.0 is envisioned as more than just an urban sprawl — it’s a future-ready, inclusive, and globally competitive city that will redefine the way India lives, works and innovates.
